Ara Vartanian

Knightsbridge, London

The brief

Jeweller Ara Vartanian and his creations have a strong aesthetic influenced by its Brazilian roots and expressed in the contemporary approach to their store environment, developed in collaboration with Sao Paulo based Estudio Tupi, in their shop in London’s Bruton Place. Our brief was to further develop this unique approach to internal architecture and brand style, translating it into the smaller scale shop-in-shop as part of the new Jewellery Box within Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge.

Our approach

The clean, functional lines and minimal approach were at the essence of Brazilian modernism and consequently of Vartanian’s style.
The rigorous approach to materiality, the use of grey concrete in contrast with the nobility of walnut wood and bronze framing are still part of the brand essence.

The airy display zone aims to give room and breathing space to the exquisite jewellery pieces recreating the overall brand approach.
Artist Hugo Franca made the central table using a 1000 year old tree found in the Brazilian forest.
