Hotel

Park Inn

Antwerp

The brief

Originally a 60’s commercial office building close to the heart of Antwerp diamond district, the challenge was to transform the space into a good value, accessible ‘boutique hotel’ establishing a new benchmark in its sector.

Our objective was to introduce simple contemporary design and a high level of comfort at affordable rates, creating a new model that breaks many conventions, offering luxury without extravagance.

Our approach

Antwerp was an important hub for printing and bookbinding and this inspired the concept throughout the hotel environment in the use of typographic artwork, the presence of antiquarian books in the library lounge and small art installations in communal areas.

The ground floor became a series of interconnecting spaces opening up directly onto the lounge and pantry area, an intimate accessible kitchen open throughout the day.

The design has been featured in many publications and has received the prestigious FX magazine Best Hotel Design award in 2010.
